LET’S TALK VIDEO GAMES: Intelligent Qube - IQ is a puzzle game made for the Sony Playstation. Released in America on Sep. 30, 1997 this game rocked my world. Now my dad had me on a budget of 1 video game a month and because I had to keep up on Final Fantasy, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro I never actually bought this game, what I did play it on was my Jampack winter 1997 demo disc that I stole from a playstation underground magazine (I was a bad kid) I played the shit out of those first 3 levels. As I got older and the feeling of nostalgia fell upon me, I remembered this gem of a game and had to have it, but as you can see owning this game would not be easy and I don’t think Amazon is planning on cutting me any deals. So my life went on IQless until recently I moved in with my best friend Jesus who just happens to work at a used video game store and just happened to get a copy (or two) of this game. My life finally had meaning! I tore through the first three levels just like I did years before and soon realized after that this game is fucking hard, it kicked my ass at about the fifth stage and when you do die the game flashes your IQ in your face often telling you you’re a dumb ass. There’s a pretty cool two player mode that I recommend for parties. Just get really good and say, “hey guys I got this really cool vintage retro 90’s game, wanna play? It’s super easy” then kick their ass it, plain and simple.

  1. brainvisions said: Hahaha, I also stole this and pretty much every Jampack that came out for PS1 when my mom went grocery shopping. Problem childs! Never finished the game and I have it on my android, but it’s not the same without the controller.
  2. andrewgilliland said: I’ve been playing some of my older games lately too, and I just realized that we’ve probably passed that moment in our lives where we can fall in love with newer games quite the same way as you could as a child.
